Mike Davies CBE, Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners

Mike Davies was a founding Partner of Richard Rogers Partnership and is a Senior Partner of Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners, having worked with the evolving practice for over 40 years, being involved with many of the offices best known projects.  

He worked for six years in Paris on the Pompidou Centre with Piano and Rogers in the 1970s and was project architect for the adjacent modern music research centre (IRCAM).  On returning to the UK he worked on Lloyd’s of London, INMOS, the UK Government microprocessor industry flagship and the Europier/Terminal 1 extension at Heathrow. 

He was project director for the original strategic masterplan of the Royal Docks in London and for masterplans for Leamouth, Greenwich Peninsula and the City of Dunkirk.  Mike was director in charge of the initial masterplan for the Wood Wharf development in London, and is project director for Grand Paris, a masterplan for Greater Paris 2025, a direct commission from the French President, examining the changing needs of urban Paris in the 21st Century.  He is also project director for the Bercy Charenton strategic plan for the Ville de Paris.  

Previous work includes strategic guidance on the Javits Convention Centre and Tower 3 at the World Trade Centre, and Mike also led the masterplan for the Lower Manhattan East River project for the City of New York.  Mike was project director for the Millennium Dome project at Greenwich and for the Terminal 5 masterplan and the new terminal buildings at Heathrow Airport, London. 

Mike’s specific expertise includes responsibility for urban design, technology, scientific research and development. 

He was awarded a CBE in 2000 for services to architecture and became a Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur in 2010.
