Principal Mechanical Engineering Manager, NG Bailey

Will Pitt

Will is a Chartered Engineer and CIBSE registered low carbon consultant with 20 years wide-ranging experience within consultancy and contracting.

Will started his career as an apprentice design engineer with AMEC in Stratford-upon-Avon in 1993. During his time with AMEC, he completed a degree in Building Services Engineering at the University of Northumbria as well as gaining valuable site experience on several large construction projects.

Will moved to Capita Symonds in 2001 in the position of senior mechanical engineer where he led the mechanical design of several high profile healthcare projects around the UK.  He moved to Faber Maunsell (now AECOM) in 2004 as Principal Engineer and was promoted to Associate Director in 2007. During his time with AECOM, he acted as multi-disciplinary design team leader on a diverse range of projects including the award winning Hadley Learning Community and the redevelopment of RAF Northolt. He also undertook the role of education sector bid leader and was instrumental in researching and developing a series of school design stage tools and solutions including a carbon emission calculator to enable designers to accurately predict ‘in-use’ carbon emissions.

Will joined NG Bailey in 2011 in the role of Principal Mechanical Engineering Manager. The role includes ensuring the business is kept up-to-date on standards and legislation, ensuring internal procedures and guidance are reflective of industry best practice and lessons learnt, development of standard solutions or better working methods and promoting the technical capabilities of the organisation.

Working for consulting engineers and M&E contractors has given Will a broad understanding of the entire construction process from concept through to commissioning and operation. He has an extensive knowledge of the integration of low and zero carbon technologies into conventional building services engineering systems as well as a good understanding of wider sustainability issues within the built environment.

Will has peer reviewed and contributed towards a number of CIBSE technical guides and flexible learning modules and currently represents NG Bailey on several committees including the BSRIA Soft Landings user group, the B&ES Technical Committee and the H&V news editorial panel.
